Springing into Possibility

I know there are a ton of tough conversations happening in education right now. We're focused on "learning loss" and trying to figure out how we are going to build up the social and emotional needs not only of our students, but also our staff. The task, admittedly, is unbelievably daunting. But, as we look ahead, to finish out this school year as well as begin our plans for the next, I'm going to look to each of you to "spring into possibility."

It would be really easy to get stuck in the rut of all of the challenges that lie before us - to assume that what's "probable" is "probably going to happen." But this week, I want to challenge you to think about the possibilities.

What opportunities lay before us to reimagine and reinvent what the notion of "schooling" means for our students?

As we invite them back into our buildings this spring, as well as look ahead to the fall, we need to think through what are the ways in which we can be a little bit riskier, a little bit innovative, and perhaps more effective in our practices of teaching and learning?

Similarly, I want us to think about how we can push the envelope even further around professional learning for all of the adults in our spaces. That's why next month, my focus is going to be exclusively on facilitators. Week by week, I am going to walk through different strategies that professional learning facilitators can employ to ensure that the learning we're planning for this summer, as well as next year, for the educators in all of our spaces is as effective as it can possibly be.

So, this week, "spring into possibility." Share with me on social media @thelearningloop all of the ways that you are thinking about reimagining learning for both the students and the adults in your learning spaces. I can't wait to hear from you!
